Why Eye Health Matters Even When Your Vision Seems Normal

“I can see clearly. Why would an eye examination be discussed?”

For someone living with type 2 diabetes, it is a reasonable question.

Some diabetes-related eye changes may develop without noticeable symptoms during their earlier stages. This is why eye health may be discussed as part of longer-term monitoring according to individual circumstances.

But there are two sides to remember:

Normal vision does not necessarily mean an eye assessment will never be required.

And

Not every vision problem in someone with type 2 diabetes is caused by diabetes.

Sudden or unexplained vision changes should not simply be attributed to glucose without appropriate evaluation.

At Dr. Apurva Gawai's Diabetes and Obesity Clinic, Kharghar, relevant long-term monitoring is discussed according to individual clinical requirements.

The need and timing of eye examinations should follow appropriate professional advice based on individual circumstances.
